MYOPIA (or Near-sightedness)

  • Myopia occurs when the eyeball is slightly longer than usual. This causes light rays to focus at a point in front of the retina rather than directly on its surface.
  • Far vision is blurry but near vision remains clear.
  • Correction of myopia by glasses, contact lenses or refractive surgery moves back the image to the retina. PRK and Lasik surgery are able to correct myopia by flattening the cornea. Refractive surgery a pour but de reculer la projection de l’image sur la rétine, afin qu’elle soit nette.
