{"id":741,"date":"2015-09-27T18:34:14","date_gmt":"2015-09-27T17:34:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brusselseyecenter.be\/?page_id=741"},"modified":"2015-09-27T18:48:31","modified_gmt":"2015-09-27T17:48:31","slug":"refractive-surgery-radial-keratotomy","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/brusselseyecenter.be\/en\/refractive-surgery-radial-keratotomy\/","title":{"rendered":"REFRACTIVE SURGERY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#xA0;<\/p>\n<h4>RADIAL KERATOTOMY<\/h4>\n<p>      Radial keratotomy was the first refractive surgery for correction of <a href=\"\/en\/wp\/en\/myopia\/\">myopia<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\tThis technique was frequently used in the 70&#x2019;s and 80&#x2019;s before the beginning of the<a href=\"\/en\/wp\/en\/refractive-surgery-laser-excimer\/\"> Excimer Laser<\/a> treatment.<\/li>\n<li>In Radial Keratotomy, several incisions are performed from peripheral to central cornea.<\/li>\n<li>Numbers and length of incisions depend on the degree of myopia.<\/li>\n<li>The purpose of this surgery is to flatten the anterior cornea and focus the image back on the retina.<\/li>\n<li>Incisions are performed using a pre-calibrated diamond knife.<\/li>\n<li>Radial Keratotomy is indicated in low myopia and <a href=\"\/en\/wp\/en\/astigmatism\/\">astigmatism<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Due to disadvantages of Radial Keratotomy compared to Excimer Laser treatment, this technique is almost not performed anymore.\n      <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#xA0;<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\\wp\\wp-content\\uploads\\2015\\09\\KR.jpg\" alt=\"Keratotomie radiaire\" width=\"421\" height=\"246\"><br \/>\n      <span class=\"gws\">      Radiai lKeratotomy<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#xA0;<\/p>\n<p>&#xA0;<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#xA0; RADIAL KERATOTOMY Radial keratotomy was the first refractive surgery for correction of myopia.
