{"id":770,"date":"2015-09-27T18:48:09","date_gmt":"2015-09-27T17:48:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brusselseyecenter.be\/?page_id=770"},"modified":"2015-09-27T18:48:09","modified_gmt":"2015-09-27T17:48:09","slug":"glaucoma-3","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/brusselseyecenter.be\/en\/glaucoma-3\/","title":{"rendered":"OTHER DISEASES OF THE EYES"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n      <strong>GLAUCOMA CHRONIC OPEN-ANGLE GLAUCOMA<\/strong><br \/>\n      Syndrome that includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\tHigh intra-ocular pressure (IOP)<\/li>\n<li>Optic nerve damage<\/li>\n<li>Alteration of the visual field <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>      <strong>ACUTE ANGLE-CLOSURE GLAUCOMA<\/strong><br \/>\n    Acute glaucoma occurs when the internal fluid drainage system in the eye is suddenly blocked and results in a very high IOP. The eye becomes painful with severe aching, blurred vision and can cause nausea and vomiting.<\/p>\n<p>      <strong>Surgical treatment<\/strong><br \/>\n    Surgical treatment is indicated when local or oral treatment is insufficient.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\tYAG Laser treatment allows performing a small opening in the iris that facilitates circulation of aqueous humour. The treatment is painless under local anaesthesia by eye drops.\n<\/li>\n<li>Trabeculectomy: if high IOP persists, a scleral flap is performed to facilitate evacuation of the aqueous humour to the outside of the eye.
