{"id":1054,"date":"2021-07-11T21:02:39","date_gmt":"2021-07-11T20:02:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brusselseyecenter.be\/?p=1054"},"modified":"2024-02-23T16:15:29","modified_gmt":"2024-02-23T15:15:29","slug":"complications-de-la-chirurgie-refractive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brusselseyecenter.be\/en\/complications-de-la-chirurgie-refractive\/","title":{"rendered":"COMPLICATIONS OF REFRACTIVE SURGERY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Particular complications to each surgical procedure :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/brusselseyecenter.be\/en\/kr-la-keratotomie-radiaire\/\">Radial keratotomy :<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Visual fluctuations<\/li><li>Photophobia and night halos<\/li><li>Secondary or progressive hyperopia<\/li><li>Theoretical weakening of the eye<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/brusselseyecenter.be\/en\/prk-ou-photokeratectomie-refractive\/\">PRK<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/brusselseyecenter.be\/en\/trans-prk\/\">Trans PRK<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Post-operative pain from 2 to 3 days<\/li><li>Late healing of the epithelium<\/li><li>Haze or sub-epithelial cicatrisation inducing a blur vision which decreases over time: 1% to 2%<\/li><li>Night halos if high myopia, high pupillary diameter or haze<\/li><li>Low risk of postoperative infection: 1\/4000<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/brusselseyecenter.be\/en\/lasik\/\">Lasik surgery.<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/brusselseyecenter.be\/en\/femtolasik-par-femtosecond-laser-ldv-z6-ziemer\/\">Femtolasik<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Decentration of the corneal flap during first post-operative days: patient must wear an eye-cover at night during 2 weeks after surgery<\/li><li>Dry eye: regular use of artificial tears is necessary during the first post-operative month<\/li><li>Epithelial ingrowth in the interface under the corneal flap (0.1%) avoided by rinsing<\/li><li>Inflammation under the corneal flap (0.5%) requiring anti-inflammatory treatment or rinsing the interface<\/li><li>Night halos if high myopia or large pupillary diameter<\/li><li>Extremely low risk of postoperative infection: 1\/5000<\/li><li>Ectasia or irregular astigmatism: Exceptional complication occuring in late post op\u00e9rative follow up, especially in keratocone or Frust keratoconus not appearent preoperatively or in thick flaps or deep ablation of the cornea.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/brusselseyecenter.be\/en\/traitement-personnalise-par-aberrometrie-ou-front-dondes-wave-front-guided-custom-laser\/\">Aberrometry<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Customized wavefront treatment with aberrometry by Lasik or PRK:<\/li><li>Same complications reported in Lasik.<\/li><li>Less regression and retreatment (2%-3%).
